5th and 6th graders: eTwinning projects

This term 5th and 6th graders have started two different projects through the European platform eTwinning.

5th graders are working on the project “The Magic Crew”. They are sharing the activities with students from Poland, Italy, Ukraine and Romania.

This project will promote intercultural dialogue through different forms of learning and students’ cooperation. The project will prove that ICT and teamwork can add to pupils’ motivation and involvement in everyday lessons as well as enhance critical thinking and social, civic and intercultural competences. The project does not concentrate on one single topic, but it integrates with the curricula. During the implementation of the project, the students will make new friends, they will increase their awareness of the worth of their and others’ cultural heritage. The project will involve linguistic skills but also imagination, artistic skills and cooperation on pupils’ curiosity and understanding of other languages, countries, places, cultures. Tasks will bring a cross-cultural atmosphere to the classroom. We will share the common values of freedom, tolerance and non-discrimination. Thus, the project will promote inclusion.

6th graders are working on the project “And... Action!”. They are sharing the activities with students from Poland, Turkey and the Basque Country (Spain).

This is a cinema project. The students from each country will write a script for a short movie they will create. Once they have the script, they will rehearse and record a silent movie based on what they have written. Once the silent movies have been recorded, they will be uploaded on Twinspace. Each group will choose a silent movie from the team of another country and, after watching it, they will create a new script based on the body language they see and record their voices on top of the silent movie. Once this is done, all the teams will upload the now voiced movies on Twinspace. After that, all the international groups will watch all the movies and compare the original script and the new script and see if the stories are similar or completely different. With this project they will use ICT tools, practise their writing skills, oral skills, use body language to act and it’s a cross curricular project as it involves English, ICT, literature, Arts, Drama.

IT'S HALLOWEEN!

This year we celebrated Halloween at school! 6th graders prepared a workshop for every group, from P3 to 5th grade. In groups of three or four, 6th grade students visited the other students and told them how to do a Halloween craft. Some days before, they had prepared all the material for the workshops, and they had memorized the instructions in English. It was a hard job but engaging and fun!
The final crafts were awesome and we all had a great time together!
